The studio was already working in partnership with CD Projekt on the development of Cyberpunk 2077.

On March 29, CD Projekt Red officially signed the acquisition of the Canadian studio Digital Scapes, with which it had been working on the development of Cyberpunk 2077 since 2018.
The studio, composed of several veteran developers in the industry, was already considered an essential part of Cyberpunk 2077’s development. In a 2018 press release from the Vice President of Business and Development at CD Projekt, the company described a "long and lasting partnership" planned for Digital Scapes due to the studio’s "talent, experience, and technical knowledge."
Although CD Projekt never specified how Digital Scapes contributed to Cyberpunk 2077, the studio specialized in cloud computing, asset production, tool creation for developers, and multiplayer game development for PC and consoles.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released with numerous bugs and issues, many of which have only recently been fixed. Despite the game not launching with a multiplayer mode, CD Projekt had previously mentioned that it had not ruled out the possibility for the future of its futuristic RPG. The recent acquisition of Digital Scapes has once again sparked speculation about a multiplayer mode in Cyberpunk 2077. So far, there has been no confirmation from the involved parties. However, in CD Projekt’s official statement regarding the acquisition, it was mentioned that the newly named CD PROJEKT RED Vancouver will join the company’s development teams located in Warsaw, Krakow, and Wrocław to work together on future studio projects.
The statement also emphasized that one of the specialties of the team, now officially part of CD Projekt Red, is multiplayer content development. However, since it was clarified that their work will focus on future projects, it remains unclear whether these will be new games or additional content for existing titles.
At the moment, the biggest priority is addressing the remaining bugs and performance issues that still affect Cyberpunk 2077. If an online multiplayer mode is still in the plans, it is unlikely to arrive in the near future.
