The TIS project is my latest work, in which I use an alter ego to approach my greatest passion, music. To explain how it all began, we need to go back to the past and show how music entered my life. At the age of five, I started studying at Salesiano Santa Teresinha School, which offered various extra courses in musical education, such as learning new instruments, school choir, and band formation.
For nine years, from five to fourteen years old, I studied at this school and learned to play the guitar and the transverse flute.
Initially, I started studying guitar with one of the two guitars my mother owned and used when she studied at the same school. My sister and I started taking guitar lessons together because there were two guitars available. When I turned 12, I received a transverse flute as a Christmas gift from my parents, motivated by my admiration for Celtic music, which features the flute in various forms in its composition. One of the groups I listened to the most at that time was The Corrs, and the instrumental songs with flutes in their compositions caught my attention. Although I requested a transverse flute to try to reproduce the group’s music, I later discovered that the main flute in the solo (The Corrs - Toss the Feathers) is played with a fife instead of a transverse flute. Even so, I continued trying to reproduce the music on the flute I had and learned other songs during my studies at school and later when playing at home.
I learned a lot about music at school, including forming a band with classmates and performing a song by Capital Inicial - À Sua Maneira during the school break. Additionally, my connection with music grew through video games, such as Final Fantasy, Metroid, and Zelda, which not only provided me with a great gaming experience and challenges but also their soundtracks remained etched in my memory. Some of these songs are still present in my playlists today, bringing nostalgia and inspiration to the TIS project, which involves musical composition.
Besides guitar and flute lessons, I deepened my connection with music by learning to sing and participating in the school choir during my childhood and pre-adolescence. Although very young, I clearly remember having a certain prestige and prominence in the choir. Salesiano Santa Teresinha School had a large theater where I had the opportunity to watch famous groups of the time, such as Família Lima and Fat Family. Interestingly, later, working with video games as Tistocco, I participated in the closing show of the game Grand Chase, whose soundtrack was produced by the group Família Lima.
